Barcelona and Ajax met for the first time in last season's UEFA Champions League group stage, the Spanish side winning 4-0 at the Camp Nou where Lionel Messi hit a hat-trick. If Messi repeats that feat tonight against the Dutch side he would overtake Cristiano Ronaldo in second place on 70 goals and match the 71 UEFA Champions League goals scored by the all-time topscorer in the competition - Raúl González.
